Tonight's episode, "Our Decay," will explore Hades (Greg Germann) and Zelena's (Rebecca Mader) relationship through a series of backstories before the two meet again in the present day.
Greg Germann told The Hollywood Reporter that he's "kind of the black sheep of the family, and so is Zelena." This then leads the two to be able to understand each other more than others because "when you meet somebody that has a past that you can identify with because of maybe the kind of pain they've suffered, you're drawn to that person." He goes on to describe his and Zelena's relationship as starting out as "good adversaries" who learn how to use each other to each of their own unique advantages.
This episode will be focusing more on Zelena and her relationship with Hades so Oncers will not be finding out about a lot of Hades background. Germann reassures that more and more of Hades' backstory will be revealed as the season goes on. But, he does give some insight into what it is that Hades ultimately wants. He wants "the same thing we all want," which the executive producers, Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, show very well. It's "something that's a little more human than just two-dimensional power," he says.
